About Us
A couple of years ago my daughter gave me a barn quilt as a Christmas gift. When I first saw it… I said, “you know I can make this too”. However, I decided to try a different technique. Most barn quilts are painted on a surface using brilliant colors. I decided to make wooden shapes that I painted. The neat thing is that I now can move the pieces around to create a multitude of new patterns. Hence 3D barn quilts was born.
My background has a lot of woodworking experience. I loved industrial arts in high school. In fact I decided to become an industrial arts teacher. I was trained in the field at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. I had some great professors teaching me shop techniques. I taught industrial arts at the high school and middle school levels in Wisconsin for years. I also taught adult classes in woodworking. I went on to be a university professor. I spent over 40 years in the profession. I taught at the University of Minnesota, Oregon State University, Southern Illinois@Carbondale , and Eastern Kentucky University. I retired in 2016 after 26 years at EKU. Now I spend a lot of my time in the garage trying out my ideas. I enjoy making toys for my grandchildren. I create large barn quilts (24x24), mini barn quilts (12x12, jockey quilts, maple cutting boards, night stands, and many other items. My latest project is making custom wooden wreaths.
